3.5" microphone isn't working on my newly built compy.

Hey guys,

So, my 3.5" Mic doesn't seem to be working... My speakers are working fine, also 3.5". When I attempt to speak with people through team speak 3 or Skype... they cannot hear me... interestingly: their voices are distorted and almost non existent... but once I close Team speak or Skype my speakers function fine.

I am using a G1 Sniper m3 miniATX motherboard... no secondary soundcard either...

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I visited micro center earlier... the gent there seems to think my motherboard may be faulty! What a bummer after my first build. Anyone have insight?
