Hello everyone, I'm currently researching for my computer build. This is my first build, I'm kinda nervous about it but whatever. I was planning on getting a i5-2500k but I went over my budget. So I was wondering if the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is a good processor for gaming. Also, can I overclock it?. Here's some of my specs:

CPU: Deciding
GPU: Gtx 650TI 2GB GDDR5 SSC
RAM: 8GB 1600Mhz
HDD: 500GB 7200RPM

Thanks, I'm not the best when it comes for computer stuff. I really appreciate it. :)

Yes, and Yes.

It's not the best, but then it doesn't cost what the best costs either.

It's a good chip for the money and it's fine for gaming.

If you are going to overclock make sure you get aftermarket cooling (like a Cooler Master 212+) and also make sure your PSU/MB can handle the extra power draw.

yeah... you made a good choice... with a 650ti (not a high end GPU) getting a high end cpu at that price premium doesn't make a lot of sense either. The deneb core CPUs are all excellent overclockers, and excellent mid/low ranged gaming CPUs. Since that's an excellent mid/low ranged GPU it's a good and consistent match.

1) The Phenom II 965 BE is still a good CPU for it's price and it can still be overclocked.
2) The GTX 650 TI cannot utilize 2GB of VRAM as it is simply not good enough.
3) The Radeon 7850 beats the GTX 650 TI for only a little bit more. I would go with that.
