Good Morning,
I am fairly new to the wonderful world of photography, and am in need
of some advice.
I have the Nikon Coolpix 8700 with built in flash, I am looking for any
information about the best external flash to buy. I mainly take outdoor
shots, some indoor shots for special ocassions (birthdays,
weddings,etc...) I would like to be able to go from the outdoors to
indoors without having to keep changing my settings, for example,
shooting a grizzly bear, then running into the cave to hide after being
chased and seeing how beautiful the cave is and wanting to snap some
shots. So anyway, any info on a good flash would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

If your concern is strictly for use with that camera and not for later
upgrade, look for a Nikon SB28. It'll do a great job. Many of them
are available at low prices because they're dead-end technology now.
If you're looking ahead towards getting a DSLR or later camera you
will be better off with the SB600 because it can grow with you.
