Hey guys, recently I've managed to buy many games from Steam in its summer sales.

That brought me to a simple concern: my HD5750 (sorry, I typed 5770 before) doesn't seem to be handling a few games well.

My config is as follow:
Athlon II X3 450 3,2Ghz
Asus M4N68T-M LE
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ
Sapphire HD5750
OCZ SXS2 400W

I'm thinking about getting a GTX550Ti or a HD7750 (good prices in my country right now), do you guys think it's a good investiment gaming-wise?
Or should I update CPU/Mobo first?

Thanks a lot!

That would not be an upgrade. GTX 550 Ti performs very similarly when compared with HD 5770, and HD 7750 is even a bit slower.

The weakest card I'd say it's worth upgrading for you would be HD 6870, but you'd need to upgrade your power supply unit for that as well.

A radeon 5770 is better than a gtx 550ti and a 7750 is as good as 5770 so it's not at all an upgrade. Not only that but in some games your cpu may bottleneck anything more than a 5770!

I'm sorry, Sunius, I said 5770, but it's actually 5750.
Does that change the picture by much?
Thanks for the quick answer.

It's still not a worthy upgrade, I suggest you get at least a radeon 6870

Not really. GTX 550 Ti is only around 22% faster than HD 5750, and because of that you will not see big improvement.

Thanks for the insight, guys.

I might go for a 7770, since, according to that chart, it should be at least 40% better than a 5750. Or maybe I could use the money to get a better CPU.

Thanks again!

maxh22,
I live in Brazil, so it's difficult to compare the prices with the ones in newegg or something :(

The GTX 550 Ti and HD 7750 do not offer much improvement in performance over the HD 5750 to justify spending money on it. See link below for some benchmarks. The HD 7750 only offers a substantial increase in performance for Crysis 2 and the GTX 550 Ti only offers a substantial increase in performance for Star Craft 2. Note that the test rig has an Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz so your FPS will be lower.

I would save up more money until you can afford a HD 6870 or GTX 560 Ti to justify a good increase in performance.

Yes HD 7770 is around 48-49% faster than your current HD 5750. You should notice quite a bit of an improvement.

I doubt you can get a meaningful CPU upgrade for that price though.

For gaming you have more than enough CPU almost no game uses more than 2 cores and there's no need for a i7 . I have a HD 6850 with a Phenom ii x2 555 unlocked to x4 and can play MW2 MW3 BF3 SC2 all high settings on 1080p at 60fps and the good thing is that the 6850 runs with a cheap 500w psu or a semi-good 400w psu no need for 800w 80plus Saludos desde Argentina.
