Hi all,
Built a PC once about 7 years ago so I'm a bit behind the times with the latest tech. I'm looking for something to play games and do work on, preferably as quiet as possible, future proofed to a certain extent and all on a budget of around £700-800....
Stuff from the thread guide:
I need everything apart from a Monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next month
Budget Range: £700-800
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, multimedia, work, surfing the internet, movies/music
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: All apart from monitor, keyboard, mouse
Do you need to buy OS: Yes
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Whichever is cheapest (microdirect.co.uk is quite close to me)
Location: Manchester, UK
Parts Preferences: Slight preference for intel but whichever works out best is ok
Overclocking: Maybe in the future
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in the future
Your Monitor Resolution: Happy with 1440x900 or higher
Additional Comments: As quiet as possible on a budget
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Want to be able to play the latest games on decent settings, more reliable PC for working on, a lot quieter
Here's the list I have at the moment:
CPU: £172

And that's pretty much it. If anyone has any advice on this list then that would be great. Anything I've missed? Any things that these components don't have that I'll need if I want to upgrade down the line? Will it be fairly quiet?
Of course, if there's something I've paid too much for, or if I there's something that gets me a better price/performance trade off then that would be good to know because I'm quite a bit over budget at the moment...
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
