Hi guys and gals. I am installing a Hyper 212 EVO with a 3770K processor and a ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard. My question is whether the heat sink should be able to rotate on the 3770k when the 4 screws are tight. It does for me, and that makes me nervous.

Am I doing something wrong on the installation of the heat sink?

Thanks.

Rotating is fine. New thermal paste acts like a lubricant (before it dries) and will allow rotation, even when you have the proper pressure applied from the mounting hardware.

Tilting or "rocking" is bad. You should not be able to rock the heat sink in a way that creates space between the heat sink and the CPU. (Don't put a lot of pressure on the heat sink when testing this. The MB is under a bit of strain already from holding that big heat sink up....even with the back plate.)
