Bottleneck?

can I put a evga gtx 560 ti into a system with a Intel Core 2 Quad cpu Q8400 2.66GHz(I don't know anything about cpus.) WIll this be bottlenecking? Thanks!

At those clocks speeds, it might be a bottleneck.
You could try OC'ing it to maybe, 3 GHz.

As Gman said, it should be fine if you clock it up a bit . I would not even do that at first, just put the new GTX 560 Ti, run some games and check the GPU usage. If it's below 90% and Vsync is disabled, it means CPU cannot keep up, then you'd need to overclock it.

Oh, and PS: don't do OC'ing with a stock cooler. Buy an aftermarket one first.

You wouldn't 'NEED' to overclock even with gtx 560 ti, just doing it would improve performance . Also, nobody has experience because he tries it .

Graphics processors will often run at 100% despite there being a bottleneck. There are subtle ways to see what is bottlenecking performance in a game, but you'd have to know exactly what to look for. From experience with what hardware I've used, reviewed, and read about in the past, I would say those 2 pieces of hardware are about even. Still, that cpu can overclock quite a lot, and you would do well to take advantage of that.

It all depends on the game you are playing as some will utilize all 4 cores others only 2. I have a old rig running a core2 Quad q6600 oc'd to 3.2 ghz with the 560 ti 448 edition and on games like BF3 i have no bottleneck on games like SC2 i do.

Why can't you just buy another power supply? Is your case too small?

Well, you don't really need two power supplies, you can just let the new power supply be the only one and let it stay outside the case.
