New gaming rig suggestions

Hey guys I'm currently building a new gaming rig. I decided I want to go with AMD card in cross fire. Currently I was thinking about getting two Radeon HD 7850s. Is there a better bang for my buck especially if I'm planning on crossfire? I'd like this to last me a good five years. I'm also trying to get 1080p resolution on as high settings as I can.

under 1700 and Gman, I was actually thinking that also, Whether I should just spend 300 on an hd7950, or if I should get two cards that are a little slower. Thats why I decided to take it to the forum

Keep in mind that I'm also buying 32 gigs of ram and an 8core processes as this will double as an virtualized ESX server for modeling my work environment. Word hard play hard right

A powerful single HD 7950 should do the trick for now. You can always crossfire them later when you've got the cash, assuming that you've got a good PSU with you too..

Get a 560 ti I believe it is. This will out perform two 7850's. 1 bigger card is always better than 2 smaller cards.

I second the recommendation. That's the beauty of CrossfireX or SLI; they allow you to beef up your system over time, as opposed to dropping the big bucks all at once. I've used this approach with my last two systems and haven't regretted it at all.
