Hey guys, looking for a cheap ass laptop that'll run borderlands 2 on mid settings, and things like dota2, leage of legends, and heroes of newerth on high settings. I also would PREFER a 15.6" screen, but if a 17"er just so happens to be on a good deal, then so be it.

These are the 2 best I could find for this price range. (really striving for under 600)

Please tell me which is the better deal. Or if you think there is better bang for the buck out there, link it plz! THANKS

Thanks a lot flank,

also, i would just like overall views of these 2 laptops, and aditional links to better laptops for the money if they exist.

I know the 630m will run the games I listed fine, just looking for a "FIRE" command, or a "buy this one instead" lol

from looking notebookcheck I found the following info
The performance of the 96 shader version should be exactly like the GeForce GT 540M and the 144 shader version like the GeForce GT 555M (see both gaming benchmark pages). Demanding games of 2010 should therefore run fluently in medium to high details. However, certain 2011 games like Anno 2070 or Skyrim may need reduced detail settings for fluent framerates. According to Nvidia, the GF117 version can be clocked up to 800 MHz and should therefore perform similarly to the average GT 555M. However, exact clock rates will differ between laptop models and manufacturers and the performance will likely range somewhere between a GT 540M and GT 555M.

so looking at the graphics card hierarchy chart on tomshardware
the gt540m is on par with the following desktop cards:
nvidia 7800 GTX, 7900 GT, 7950 G, GT 220 (DDR3) & ati X1800 XT, X1900 AIW, X1900

the gt55m is on par with the following desktop cards:
nvidia 8800 GTX, 8800 GTS 512 MB, GT 545 (GDDR5) & ati HD 4770

I would look into the video cards specs a little more and see what version of the gt630m you are getting or see if you can overclock the video card to bring it to similar performance level as the gt555m.

Both laptops are fine for your demands. However, the 'i5' name of the second one and the additional 2GB ram gives you a great psychological boost. :p

Note that both the i3 and i5 laptop chips are dual-core.
