LOOOL
hahaha, they're very cheap now, around $200, for the performance it's quite a good deal. I live in a cold country so i can handle the high temps of the gtx480. But I must say, if gtx660 was out atm, i wouldve bought a set of 2... GTX580 and GTX 670/680 are too expensive :S The GTX 570 is on par with gtx480 but is $60 higher...

yeah, i heard it can actually give similar performance to the 570 if oc'd well which would mean it has similar performance of the gtx480 with the advantage of having less power consumption.. Once i get my setup done, i'll post the bench's and compare with your setup, it'd quite interesting..

One more thing: i have an amd phenom II X4 965 oc'd at 4GHz stable.. Do you think the cpu will bottleneck the gtx480's ?

that's where I ran my 965BE when I had it.
I had SLi GTX 460's though and not 480's so 'recon' might shed light on that..

:) hahaha hope so.
btw, im about to buy the cooler master 1000w that i mentioned on my first post. The amps on the 12v rail is enough (80amps)? Enough for 480's sli ? Sorry i just wanna be sure :)

Hey guys...I've been running my gtx480's for 2weeks or so now and was doing some general tests. First I found out that my cpu is actually bottlenecking my gtx480 in sli which is pretty sad since the AMD Phenom x4 965 BE came out in 2009 and the gtx480 in 2010... Anyways, I can live with that, i'm still getting better performance with SLi enabled.
My bigger issue is about the power...I shouldn't have underestimated the gtx480....
The psu i got is a CM Silent Pro 1000w / 80A . I thought it was enough, but the power that goes on the 12v rail is only 963w which is enough for the setup BUT if I want to overclock.....It's not enough. I bumped the voltage from 1050mv to 1138mv to attain 900mhz core and Windows automatically restored default settings.. Afterwards, I decreased to 850core 1125mv....was stable for a longer time but failed at the end. I Also get those random GPU Core downclock when playing: seems my video cards are downclocking to prevent any power issue ( i did modify the power mangement mode in NV control panel to see if anything changes, but nothing). I'm assuming the cards require more power, thus Im going to return my current CM psu and buy another one, I'm hesitating between the Seasonic X-1050 (1050w,87a,full modular,80plusGold) or the Corsair HX 1050 (1050w,87.5a,semi-mod,80plusSilver). What do you guys think?
