What monitor should i get for my radeon 7850

Hey guys
I recently build my computer. The specs are I5 3570k, Radeon hd 7850, asrock z77 extreme4.
I plan on hooking it up to my 31 inch sony 720p hdtv, but i feel like i won't be using my PC's full graphic potential with a 720p tv. so i was wondering if you guys could recommend me a good PC monitor for the PC i have. My budget would be under $500.

PS: I would like it to be at least 24inch. Also my eyes seem to be getting worse. would anyone know if this is the result of using a tv upclose as a PC monitor?

OMG OMG OMG!!! Did you do the microcenter deal? Im sorry, I just get so giddy when I see someone with the same build as me. Because then I now I did my first build right=D. btw how much did your build cost and what parts did you get =)?
