A-Series vs. Gxxx/i3 w/low-midrange video card

Both will work but really there is no point in getting the APU if you are going to be getting a discrete graphics card. The integrated graphics is the best feature of the APU and hyou won't be putting it to use.

An A10 is just an FX-4300 with a built in graphics processor. The graphics on an A10 are about like a $50-60 graphics card.

Exactly which video card are you thinking of getting?

Sorry, I meant just an Intel CPU with a discrete card, not a card in addition to an AMD APU.



I guess a 6670 or its Nvidia equivalent, as I'm not really a gamer. I've done a little bit of research but still don't really know what to look for. The GPU hierarchy is helpful, but all the specs of the various cards themselves make my head spin.

Nay nay nay. Don't get that old thing, it's garbage. If you want decide graphical performance for some basic games, get a 7750 or a 650. If you're not gonna be gaming at all, just get a Core i3 & use the integrated graphics.

Any reason you are going with an older generation video card. The 6XXX series is a generation old actually almost two generations because AMD will be releasing the new 8000 series sometime in this spring. I would at least go with the 7000 series or wait to see what happens with the 8000 series release dates.
