The 7850m in the HP Envy 17 has 1GB VRAM instead of 2GB, do you think the 7850m's GPU is fast enough to really make this a difference?
the vram shouldnt make much of a difference as the gpu isnt designed for 1920x1080 heavy gameplay. only a few games can go past 1 gb vram, and those are heavy duty games that are out of the league for the gpu to emulate at max settings.
Just to clerify....Its actually equal to the 7770M however, its a full 2 tiers below the desktop version. Below is the curernt hierarchy chart for you. Hope this helps...Cheers!

Depends on what you're trying to do with it. For instance I have an old GTX 260M laptop that I can still play games on...just not at the greatest settings.
