hey all citizens of toms hardware!
i have a doubt
we were having alan party at my place the other day and my frend had brought his rig
on his rig he played bf3 singleplayer on 1080p hihg
i asked him why not ultra?
he said he gets poor fps on ultra till the time he drops down to 1440x900 (without aa)
but i get around 30fps on ultra (no aa) 1080p he only gets 15 fps
his rig-
i3 -2100
gigabyte h61m ds2
cooler master extreme 500w
msi hd 6850 cyclone
2x2gb ram

my rig
i5-2500
intel dh61ww
corsair cx 500 w
sapphire hd 6770 ( stock)
2x2gb ram
just curious any problem in his rig?
also we both use the same catalyst 12.7
thanks !

I didn't read the article, but BF3 is a very demanding game - it's going to need as much hardware acceleration as possible. Without a good CPU behind your card, the framerate is going to drop. Period.

BF3 multiplayer can be demanding in 32 on 32, especially with stuff flying everywhere. But it's also very demanding even in single player.

MP also has a lot to do with your internet connection. Sometimes people with beast setups get tons of lag in MP simply because their connection sucks.

It is hyperthreading vs 4 real cores...

No surprise that the i5 will pull away in this title.

Multiplayer is definitely way more demanding than single player.

Here is proof from my single GTX 480:
