SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamera Fata1ity Pro - Digital In

Last response: in Components
Hey guys,
I own a SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamera Fata1ity Pro and the card supposedly have a digital input. As far as I know it's the same jack input as the line-in. However when I'm connecting my optical cable (using the Optical to 3.5mm jack adapter) I'm getting no sound no matter what settings I'm on. I even change the recording device in windows sound settings (currently running on Windows 8 Pro). I'm trying to connect my Virgin TiVo box. As my monitor doesn't have any speakers I want to connect it to my PC.
Anyone has any idea what I'm doing wrong? I remember that when I tried connecting my PS3 through optical cable it wouldn't work either.

That card uses digital (RCA type) coax out through the Digital I/O flex jack, not optical. You need to get a 3.5mm to RCA type adapter. Like this one: http://www.sfcable.com/2013-SF-03.html?utm_medium=shopp... or this http://www.infinitecables.com/pop-usa/av_dig-35mm.htm
If you get the first one you will need some digital coax as well. like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Digital coax is also only capable of stereo.

Thanks a lot for the reply! That finally cleared out my doubts. Ahh it looks like I'm screwed for the time being as the TV box can only output sound via HDMI/Optical/SCART . As I'm using a monitor and not a TV I don't have a built-in speakers so that also doesn't help. I suppose there is no other way of getting the sound through my current card?

You could use this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
You would still need the stuff I posted above to get to the RCA type connection with the exception that you could probably use a very short length of coax since you will also be using a optical cable but it should work.

Right, so let me break it down just so I don't make any mistakes. I buy this little guy and I connect my decoder via optical cable to it and then from the converter via coaxial cable via RCA to 3.5mm jack to my sound card... this sounds confusing. Anyway, if you could confirm that that is the correct way I'd be grateful
@ninogui I did check both of them and nothing works which is a shame

I have the same card on an old PC but, I also have the external i/o console http://ask.europe.creative.com/wwimages/audio_int/xfi/x... so I have more connectivity options.

Aww sweet! That looks like something I've been looking for for ages! I guess that just connects to the sound card via (cable name
)? I wonder if I could get one because that would not only solve my current issue, it would help me with future projects
I see them on eBay from time to time. When I bought mine it was $160 new from creative and it came with a remote, a stand so you could stand it on it's end and of course the cable that connects it to the card. It's a pretty big box, it measures about 9.5 x 12.75in and it has tons of connectivity. Unfortunately creative doesn't sell them anymore.
It's called the "Creative X-Fi External I/O Console Upgrade Kit" and it basically turns your X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series into the Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro. RODFAQ_14064,VARSET=CategoryID:1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.asp...
The only place that I see them still for sale new is at websites for Australia for the retarded price of almost $300 (just for the Upgrade Kit) but if you look you should be able to get one on eBay for around $100

Thanks for all the info! I manage to get one for as little as £15
I live in UK btw. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the cable so I'm desperately searching for the place that sells one

That's a good price, I hope you can find the cable.Hey pal, I'm in a middle of exchanging emails with people from Creative and I just want to confirm something with you. You own X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality Pro Series such as this one: http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.asp... and you have it connected to an external console such as the one you mentioned earlier yea? I'm asking because the woman I'm talking to says that both aren't compatible with each other and I can't connect the box to it

Then Unfortunately she doesn't have a clue. You need to get a hold of someone at Creative that does.
This is mine.

Plugged into the card.

The original Sound card box.

Exactly what the connector on the back of the card is for.

And again here.

Here's the sound cards model# in case you need it when you talk to Creative (I blocked out part of the serial#).

You can click on any of these images to make them bigger if you need to.

No problem, Let us know what they say.
Well, you were right:
"Thank you for getting back to us.
We double checked the soundcard and the console with our product group and they said that these two will work with each other. I apologize for the misinformation that I gave you before.
I am currently checking with our product group for the price and stock availability of the AD_link cable. I will keep you posted.
We deeply seek for your kind understanding and apologized for any inconvenience caused."
So hopefully they will have it in stock and I will be able to get it
