Solution
I would get the 4300 over the 4170, and then the 6300 over the 4300 as its $10 more, and well the 8350 can sometimes compare to an i5, if u want performance near an i5, but many will say not as good, well give or take 5-10fps ish in games.

Going from the x4 to the 4170 isnt a good move, id say a 6300, or the 8350.

a recommended board is a asrock z77 extreme 4 for around $130 plus 230 for an i5 3570k, about same cost as if ud buy new 8350 plus motherboard except the 8350 is at $200 and u have the motherboard lol

One difference with intel boards the newer ones not all have wifi and bluetooth

I've not used AMD, but I can tell you that I just build a computer for my brother for Far Cry 3. He bought an i3 3220 and an HD 7950 card. It performs extremely well. It's the first non-high end cpu I used and I can honestly not tell the difference in most things between that and my i7-3930k. I'd highly recommend an i3 for almost anything short of video encoding after using it.
