Hello everyone,

I know this has been asked numerous times. But I searched high and low. Not even one Architecture student had a similar setup. After posting in several arch forums I gave up. This is my last resort.

First of all, I have minimal experience in the desktop/rig game. Last time I owned a desktop was 10 years ago (when monitors and desktops weight about the same). So please don't flame If I may sound a bit stupid.

I am in my junior year at Architecture school. I am looking for a stout desktop setup. Costing 1000 to 1500 but would like to stay under the 1300 mark to add room for a nice monitor.

I configured a desktop through Ibuypower pc and cyberpowerpc. Both look like great websites. But maybe some of you will shed some light about what graphic cards to avoid or which ram to go with.

Excuse me if this is in the wrong format/section.

Here it is...

Case: ZXT Guardian 921 RB Gaming Case - Black

Processor: intel i7 3820 (Might overclock)

Graphics: Gtx 650 2gb or gtx 550ti (not sure?)

Ram: 2x8gb corsair ddr3

HDD: WG 2TB 7,200 rpm

GPU cooling: Liquid CPU Cooling System with 2 ARC fans

Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 LE -- 2x USB 3.0

Optical drive: 24X Sony Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive

OS: Microsoft 7 pro 64 bit

Power : 650w corsair

What else am I missing?? Would appreciate the input. All the above costs about 1400 through ibuypower. Should I stay away?

Need a very powerful desktop to handle autocad 3d/revit/photoshop/etc simultaneously.

If any of you have tips or recommendations I would appreciate it.

Thanks.
