since my old pentium e6600 has now seriously reached the age where you can safely call it a zombie so i want to upgrade to a new CPU and mobo. I am on a very low budget (200 € max) and dont really need top of the line performance (the most demanding things i do are playing battlefield 3 on low-mid settings - which my current cpu cant manage anymore - and producing music)

since the phenom 2 x4 965 BE is very cheap now (130 € with a decent mobo) i have a real itch to buy it but a i3 3220 is only about 30 € more expensive.

my question is: would it really pay off to invest more for someone like me (when it comes to gaming im fully satisfied with playing in 1280x800 resolution and low settings as long as i get stable >40 fps, i rarely buy new games. so far my old dual core has a decent performance when it comes to making music so that is not really a factor)

my graphics card is a zotac gtx 650 AMP edition 2gb - which my current cpu is bottlenecking hard (40 % load when the cpu is at 100%).
also from what i saw in yotube videos the phenom seems to have more stable fps results when it comes to battlefield 3, the i3 seems to cause more fps drops.
any help would be much appreciated

ok thx, i will probably go with the 965 then, because it costs only 86€, so i can even afford more ram and a decent am3+ mobo :)
