Ok feels like I've been lurking forever and it's time to build my first PC, going to replace my awful cable dvr with an HTPC. I'm sure like most beginners what I'm after is probably not possible with a reasonable budget but here goes. The only piece I'm 100% on is the case and that was for cosmetic/fit. Everthing is open to suggestion but the mother board especially.

Approximate Purchase Date: Next few weeks

Budget : Like to stay $800-$1100

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Watching live tv/recorded shows, watching ripped DVD/blurays, the occasional game. Multiple Xbox extenders at the same time feasible?

Additional Comments: would like all the ports on the front of the case to work if they don't end up being all USB 3.0 that's fine. Quite and low idle power draw would be plus cable box currently draws 40 no matter what it's doing. I'd like to play some decent games on it down the road and possibly add a video card. Most importantly thanks in advance for the help!

I really don't see any problems with your current build, given that you do intend to add a graphics card and do some heavier gaming down the road. The Ceton InfiniTV4 card (assuming you're going with the PCI-E version) will work in any of you motherboard's expansion slots.
