Quick graphics card question please :)

Hello everyone, I had a very simple but very important question.

Will this computer:

Be fully compatible with this gfx card:

And this power supply?:

I'm very confused because different people are telling me different things. Like that my mother board isn't compatible, and that a PCI Express 2.1 x16 graphics card isn't compatible with a PCI Express x16 card slot (what does the extra "2.1" on the graphics card even mean?) and that the card might not fit my case and stuff.

By the way, the power supply I want to buy and the stock 300w one are the same exact size (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4) so I'm assuming it'll be okay, but I just want to be sure.

Its mainly the graphics card and its compatibility.

Okay thanks for your help and advice :)

OH and on a side note. would a hyper 212 cooler:
be a good idea (for longevity and performance reasons) for my cpu even though I don't plan on over clocking that much, if at all?

Thanks again :)

  1. Card and PSU no problem, that system would run fine as well of the CX500 PSU with power to spare.
I do not think that the CM 212 will fit your case and since you will not be overclocking you are fine as is.
  2. Alright, thank you very much for your input :) thats relieving to hear, I was worried I was stuck with a 7570 (blegh)
  3. Hi there. The power supply is the only thing that's compatable with your PC for sure.

If you want a good cooler that will fit in your case this on is the best option for your budget (30$?)

You should measure your case to make sure it has enough room to fit a long graphics card.If there's plenty of room left thats a very good card for you.Better than the HD 6870.

Also replace the PSU with this one.Its better.
  4. Other option and shorter HD6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150561 will not overhang motherboard.
  5. Okay, I can measure it, but before I buy it, someone recently told me about an "OEM version" of windows, which means that if I upgrade any of the parts, my version of windows will not work..... is this true?
  6. It is only true if you replace the motherboard with a different board! You can replace all other parts.
