Hello !

When i installed windows 2000, my soundcard, a Soundblaster PCI 64, wasn't recognised. There was a "?" in the periphericals list instead of the card.

I checked soundblaster's website, but they answered me that there was no driver for windows 2000 for this soundcard.

Then, what should i do ?
Try to install my drivers made for windows98 ? I'm afraid that would not be wise.

Really, i don't see what to do. Would you have a solution to help me ?
Thanks a lot !

Register or log in to remove.

Check to see if their are PCI128 drivers for Win2k, they should work with a PCI64 I think.

Thanks for your answer !

But, in case these drivers won't work, won't they risk to cause a disaster ?

In fact i want two things :
- a better sound maybe
- the SB utility to improve the sound with the "spacial" effect ^^

Thanx a lot anyway !!

At worst they will cause your system to be unstable and your card still won't work. But then you remove it and everything's fine.

Yes, Windows doesn't load drivers for hardware that isn't there, so if you take the card out, you'll boot up like you never installed it. Then you can install different drivers and put the card back in.

<font color=green>I post so you don't have to!
