what is bottleneck and is it good or bad? for example: Would the gtx 650 ti get bottleneck the fx 4100 or would the fx 4100 bottleneck the gtx 650 ti?

Every PC has a bottleneck, its the weakest link in a PC.

Say I had an i3 processor and a GTX690, the GTX690 would be held back in games by the i3 because it cant push as many frames per second as the GTX690.

An i5 could keep up with the GTX690, but lets say we have that an only 2GB of RAM, the RAM would hold both of them back!

My examples of balenced systems:

i3, 4GB RAM, up to a GTX570
i5, 8GB RAM, up to a GTX690
i7, 8GB RAM, up to GTX 690 Quad SLi


An FX4100 can handle up to a gtx 680 I'm sure.

What resolution you are at depends where the bottleneck is and it will also vary in different games. In a well balanced PC some games will be held back by the CPU and others the GPU, a PC with a bottleneck will always be held back by the same one.

The GTX650Ti and FX4100 are okay choices together when on a budget.

for more info my build is:

fx 4100 maybe upgradeing to fx 6300 (where do u guys stand on 6100 vs i3 vs 6300? can u put in order most powerful to least?)
4 gb ram
gtx 650ti (maybe gigabyte OC version, evga or zotac) what do you think?
500 watt

the saphire version is 185 and the xfx version is 159 should i just get the xfx?
