Low fps with XFX Radeon HD 7970

Hey everyone!

I just bought a new GPU, the XFX Radeon HD 7970 DD, which replaced my 5700 series.

My friend says he's getting 100 fps in BF3 single-player, and over 70 in multiplayer. I'm getting 70 in Single-player and 45 in multiplayer, we both run it on Ultra, and Bad Company 2 seems to be stuck at 35-49 fps.

Is it possible that my CPU is slowing my GPU? Will overclocking the CPU help? I also don't know how to overclock the CPU. I can't find the multipliers or anything under Advanced in BIOS.

I'll add any other info you ask for, but please bare (bear? however it's spelled) with me because I'm not that deep into hardware.

My system specs from Dxdiag are:

  1. I don't have the "AI Tweaker" or any type of CPU overclocking in my BIOS. I blame Foxconn motherboard...

  3. What's your power supply? And he probably has something Intel. You arent going to be able to overclock anything due to your computer being an HP.

Its going to be slower than your friend's likely custom built computer. The X6 is not that fast of a processor anymore and is probably bottlenecking.
