Additional Comments: So my concerns are,
1) I’m using (http://www.monstercable.com/headphones/turbine/) with my Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card. Should I get better headphones or just stick to the mobo sound card?
2) If I move to 3D stereoscopic & Surround (5760x1080), I’m afraid that fps will drop below 50 on certain games/scenes. To fix this is it better to drop 3d stereoscopic? Wait for GTX 780, or add a 3rd GTX680 card?
3) Any comments my current build is appreciated.

I don't get nVidia's website. The way things are setup it looks like SLI with the 670 is not possible, but other websites say it is. Created a new build that sits in the 5.1K range now. This one is designed for 3d steroscopic running in surround configuration.

I have no idea what the actual FPS in 5760x1080 is or if it's even possible in this config since the nVidia website doesn't even state that it is. Anyone out there tried this and has any feedback?

Maybe I should call this the Rob-a-Bank build. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Again, comments are welcome...

do you know how to read???? the op said 3k-3.4k and i guess 3.5k max!

*The H100 sucks!
*an i5 for that kind of setup, really?
*only 8GB of RAM?
*6TB of SLOW HDD storage??!?!?!?!
*how the hell are you going to fit a sound card if all the PCI-e slots are occupied?
*a HAF 932??? i'd say at least a HAF-X
*1000w are not enough for that rig, 1200w minimum and about 1500w to be safe.
*those cards SUCK for 5760x1080, you need atleast 3GB of VRAM to get a decent framerate @5760x1080

Ok, thanks for confirming that 670 SLI is possible, what do you think of my quad SLI build with 670s? Any idea what the FPS would be in this scenario? Just thinking about the desk space and the price tag it's really looking like overkill.

But the dreamer in me just geeks out at the mind blowing over the top-ness of this config running games. Especially stuff like Dirt3 with a Logitech Driving Force GT Gaming Wheel. Or the awesomeness of running around in Skyrim swinging a huge axe.

geez, chill out.

Since, I'm the OP and the conversation went to more then 2 SLI build I had to adjust. Besides, I stated 3k+. Just didn't think it would cost that much more.

Keep hearing that i5 & 8GB of ram is the most that the current configs can handle before you reach the limit. No sense in passing it. The bottleneck here isn't the CPU or the RAM, I think it's the GPU. But never seen any benchmark data for a build this crazy.

6TB is for non-intense data like AVIs, images files, etc. The games & OS are meant to run on the OCZ Agility4.

What do you recommend for cooling in this scenario?

Which GPU config do you recommend for decent framerate @5760x1080?

I have an extremely similar build (quad GTX680s + i7 3960x) with those exact same monitors, i have all my components watercooled and overclocked very high (5Ghz on the CPU and 1350/7500 on the GPUs) and my framerate in BF3 @5760x1080 maxed out is about 80fps

OMG....epic fail, i tought you were some else

for that setup i would recommend watercooling but that will be an extra 1000$ + about 700$ for the case + shipping you will need.

its true that an i5 and 8GB are usually the best config for gaming but with this budget its kinda dumb to get an i5..... and i7 will help you A LOT for other stuff.

Thank you very much for your feedback. You are exactly the guy I wanted to talk to since you are already running a similar build.

Was wondering,

1) Do you water cool just the CPU? Or others like GPU, RAM, etc? If so what do you use to water cool the others? Which case did you use? I know it’s crazy but I’d like to fit in a sound card as well because I want better sound quality as well.
2) If you had to do it all over again, would you stay with the quad 680s or would you go with the tri 7970s? In this scenario, I’m not talking about a price limit since this build is so over the top anyway.
3) How do you find the 3D stereoscopic in the surround config? Is it worth it? Do you get headaches, take off the glasses and just go back to 2D? I hear a lot of people saying it’s pointless.
4) I don't do any rendering or anything like that. Just gaming and AVI watching. What other stuff would the i7 be good for?

Cheers

*my full system is watercooled. RAM, GPUs, CPU and motherboard, i use 2x 560mm rad and a 480rad.
*it's impossible to fit a sound card with 4 GPUs, all the slots will be populated.
*if i had to do it again i would do it exactly the same, my rig is flawless.
*nah, 3D is awesome, specially with the VG278Hs
*i still recommend you to get an i7 because your cards MIGHT be bottlenecek if you don't turn HT ON... i can't comment on that because my 3960x is powerful enough to not bottleneck them with HT OFF
