550 ti fan blades broken

Anyone know if it is possible to buy a new fan or cooling unit to attach to the 550ti and what size it will have to be.

My friend is selling it to me for £20 since he upgraded and doesn't want it anymore.

Anyone have any ideas... right now it has 5 blades missing and its making it noisy... the cooling isnt awful but could be better.

They supported my HD 4830 for when those original fans stopped working properly. 40 degrees idle, 55 max.
  4. And will that replace the broken fan? or just fit underneath from a pci slot?
  5. Oh and is it possible to just buy the fan blades them selves if not then the cooler you suggested seems good but does it need water cooling?
  6. I want to know how you have that any broken fan blades.?
  7. A friend gave it to me for free it runs at around 64 right now on skyrim and max went to 71 but it is so damn loud lol.
  8. where are the broken blades, do you have them too.?
    (serious question.)
  9. nah I think he threw them out... I mean I don't mind replacing the whole fan to be fair if it makes this thing quieter it sounds like a plane takin off lol.

just curious, I have seen some crazy threads with superglue and the broken fan blades.
that's all I was inquiring about.
  11. So can anyone tell me if there are any compatable coolers or what size fan blades I need... This thing is vibrating like crazy...
  12. Just remove the fan from the cooler with the face plate and then take the fan apart. Once you have done that place the fan into something that you can use to somewhat get the broken blade in place without having to hold in place by hand. Once you have done that and got it where it should be just right use some superglue or gorilla glue to finish the job on the top of the blade. Allow it to dry then apply some more glue in a thin layer on the underside of the blade.

If you did it right there should be only some vibration but not enough to make any annoying noise or ruin the fan bearing.

    that.
  14. I mean I know it will but can I order it to the uk from that site lol...
  15. does your fan now (busted fan on the GPU) have a 2-pin or 3-pin maybe a 4-pin power plug.?
    you need to look.
  16. They sell after marked coolers for GPU's in such. Check with your electronic shops or go to amazon.com/UK and work your way to the fans/coolers. I will show you one here on new egg. Good luck to you.

This one will work with the 550 ti and don't forget the thermal paste you will need when swapping out the cards.

  17. I am looking to replace my fan on the 550ti.

It has only 4 blades left on it. Some guy who gave it to me for free was trying to change the cooler on it and dropped the fan (not the card) and broke off a few blades on one side.
So to try balance the fan out he also purposely broke more off the other side... I have re oiled the bearing and it is working fine but is a little loud... surprisingly still keeps it at 65-70c after 3 hours of Skyrim.

It has a 2 pin fan connector on the card... I had been told to get this http://www.ebay.com/itm/75mm-NVIDIA-GTX-550-Ti-GTX-560-Video-Card-Fan-Replacement-4Pin-DASA0815R2U-0-6A-/180885945764

But this has a 4 pin connector... I did find this.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/75mm-Computer-PC-VGA-Video-Card-Heatsink-Heat-sink-Cooler-Cooling-Fan-12V-2-Pin-/251066042393?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D948366031133517471%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1017%26rk%3D3%26#ht_2458wt_1110

I know this one is way cheaper... is this what I need and will it work with my card? The reason I haven't bought it just yet is that it takes 11-20 days for delivery and I want to know if I should be looking elsewhere.

    My card is http://www.pointofview-online.com/showroom.php?shop_mode=product_detail&product_id=254

Notice the 2 pin fan connector.
  18. second thread, what happened to the first.?
mods might find the first and combine the two.

    FYI
I wouldn't try a third thread on same subject matter either..

google 50mm two pin fans..if there 50mm. you have to take a tape measure and measure two side of the fan to see if there 50 by 50mm.
  20. The first one grinded to a halt and I tried to revive it but nothing... I couldn't even find it myself lol looked for like 20 mins then just re posted... sorry btw.
  21. Found it!! if mods could merge this with the newer one I posted on same subject I would be very grateful... btw it's a 2 pin.
  22. 2-pin fan correct.?
  23. Yes it's a 2 pin fan I'm not sure how big the fan actually is I'll have to check again... this is the millionth time I have removed the card ugh... lol
  24. 75mm is the fan size and it's a 2 pin connector.
  25. Thanks smorizio does anyone know of any guides showing how to replace the fan?
  26. Oh and how can I tell if the fans are compatible with my video cards? There usually isn't any compatability lists.
