6950 single vs. 6850 x2

Solution
The 7870 is probably the best card for $300, you should get performance similar to 2x 6850s. I don't think you should buy a 6970 or 2 6850s as of now unless you have no other choice. Crossfire isn't always good and 6950s are kinda overpriced for the ones left in the channel.

having 2 6870s depending on what games you want to play really is the question .. if your wanting to play bf3 maxed out just letting you know you can play on ultra settings but MSAA will kill that setup .. however any other game that pair of cards would certainly max out most other games i get good frame rates with my crossfire setup... however im waiting for the next gereation after the 7000 series before i choose to upgrade .. i figure the performance difference will be more significant then the current generation.

only thing with crossfire setups is some times with newer releases you may not gain performance or notice some buggy play until the crossfire profiles are updated .. usually this can take a few months depends on the title though .. i think next time around ill got with one high end card vs having 2 lower power / mid cards basically thats why i bought my setup was because you could run it off a 750watt vs needing 1000 watt ..
