When will the new Barton Chip be available to the masses?-Because here in England the XP2800 has NEVER been readily available.

Any ideas on Pricing too? of all three models, as i am currently using an XP2100 with an MSI KT4VL Mobo-which i have just seen will accept the new Bartons-so an xp2100 to a Barton XP3000 would be my next move, allowing me just to change the one component(thus keeping the wife happy).

They have bartons at http://www.komplett.co.uk.The 2800s are actually in stock at the moment (well 4 anyway) and others of the 2500s and 3000s are due on 5th march.Komplett is also the cheapest in the uk for cpus so that helps. The tbred 2800 has never been readily available anywhere, not just here in uk.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

You should check out Komplett's memory prices too(if you can persuade the boss to let you upgrade that too  ).I just had a look today out of interest and ddr has fallen significantly.I am not happy about that though coz i bought two sticks of twinmos 256mb pc 2700 cl2 about a month ago there for about £45 each and now they are £26.

Funnily enough i just ordered 256Meg more of Crucial DDR 2700, but at the same think "has it bottomed out yet", if they keep dropping the prices anymore it will be cheaper than your average Floppy Disc Drive........

I have bought at both ends of the scale too, £64 for 256 -and as i say £31 for 256-only around 10 or so weeks ago too.

I have used overclockers.co.uk and dabs before but after extensive research, buying from others over the past couple of years i have found that komplett and ebuyer are the best places for components in the uk and much cheaper than those two.Ebuyer has a larger range than komplett (although dabs' is admittedly massive but not cheap) and is cheap for drives and cases etc but komplett is the cheapest for cpus and memory etc.You should check them out.

i've used dabs for a long time, since 1999 but their returns policy stinks so i've stopped using them...recently i've used overclockers.co.uk...i don't quite trust ebuyer and komplett yet....maybe i'll give them a try someday....i know that komplett is cheap for cpu's but really the prices aren't hugely different :)

Komplett is much cheaper than overclockers for everything except graphics cards.I have used ebuyer many times and have returned a couple of things with no problems.I have only started using komplett recently but have had no problems. Both are massive operations so you needn't worry about trusting them-i always worry more about the smaller ones.

my last upgrade was a graphics card from overclockers.co.uk a GF4 Ti4200 in august.....and it was way cheap....
to me Komplett and ebuyer are small, because i've never heard of them before, niether have any of my enthusiast friends....however I will check them out because you've had a good experience with them.....probably when i do my next CPU/Mobo upgrade, hehe with my AthlonXP 1900+ I'll probably not upgrade til early 2004 :) but i'll bare them in mind
