Hi All,

I have "calculated" (I use the tern loosely) the power consumption needed for my new build (See below) However I have used several sites that have PSU calculators and they all come up at different wattage ratings. Asus site tells me I need 850w; MSI says 588w and overclock gave me something else???

MOBO = P9Z79 Deluxe, i7-3930k

2 X OCZ Vector 256 Gig SSD's

2 X WD Veliciraptor 1TB HDD's

16g (4X4) G-Skill 2400 ram

GPU HD 7970 Vapour X 3 Gig

HAF X case

H100i CPU cooler unti (dule fan) + extra 200mm fan

All the fans will be LED

1 x Blu Ray combo

1 X Front bay card reader

1 X Fan controller (LED)

I was considering an AX 750W Gold...

Will this be enough given the specs above?

Advice/help plz...

Only 500w? On the 7970 Vapour x box (GPU) it states min 750w needed and checking that spec on sapphires actual website it says 500w min for the same card, so not even the manufacture can give me an accurate reply..shhheeshhh.

When they say min requirement for running the GPU have they taken into account all the other stuff in a build?

Hi :)

Basically the other stuff uses peanuts...power wise...

Even my 7990 only needs an 850..

General easy to remember rule is ... 1 graphics card =500
... 2 graphics card =1000 max

There are a couple of exceptions, like my 7990 (its a single card with 2 cards built into it) but very rare (and expensive...)

Yours...any 500 decent make...like I said...

All the best Brett :)

Hi - the AX750 is way more than enough. realhardtech suggests a
quality 550w unit for a sys with one 7970 and that has some
wiggle room. You also need 30a on the +12v rail, but the ax750 has
more than double that.

If you want to save some $$ look for a quality 550-650w unit or
just go ahead with the ax750. There is no harm in more power than you
need except to your wallet.
