My experience with Logisys PSU

Congratulations on your successful event. Being that hundreds of people may read this post and act on it should be known that Logisys is a mid to low level company on ratings for their PSU's. The fact that you got a good one (so far) doesn't invalidate the advice of those on Tom's

Do you know what supplies aren't on there? The ones that I and others suggest. Seasonic is the best right now. Corsair and XFX are both made by Seasonic so they are good. Antec is good. These are the top tier companies. There are more but that is enough for now.

There are a couple of 4 star logisys on newegg but lots of 3s

Thanks for looking guys! I do agree with both statements. People on newegg seem to have better luck with my PSU than the one Jed said. The Corsair CX500 is rated an average of 4 stars for 296 reviews, and the Logisys is 216 reviews with 4 stars. Not much of a difference.

1) newegg reviews mean ***, absolutely nothing
2) logisys is not even a good PSU company

Just because it works now means it is ok, the PSU could be giving out of specification ripple that could be causing harm to the components without you knowing until enough damage is done to make them stop functioning 100% ok. Also there is a chance the the PSU, being complete *** quality, could blow at anytime in the future and possibly take out other hardware

Note: to anyone thinking of getting this brand, don't, just because one person has some good luck on it and posted about it doesn't change the fact that they use cheap components and over spec the PSU

The Corsair CX series is the low end of the Corsair lineup hence the price. Remember alot of users put their reviews within a week of buying their equipment. It either works or it doesn't. The real tell is a year down the road on how it operates. Unfortunately most of the poor psus failures are catastrophic rather than just dying. My Antec power supply builds are still going strong with the oldest being 9 years.

How do I find ripple?

You purchase the $2500-3000 tester, hook it up to your psu and go to town. that is why so few sites do a proper review on power supplies.

Seriously you can't tell. If the ripple is enough you will get random failures of that component or early death for the component. You can test the voltage with a meter but you need one that records for a period of time to see the ripples.

I may try to do it with a Harbor freight Power meter, recording it evry 5 seconds, or a camera on a tripod pointing toward it when its on.

I watched the 12 volt rail for 3 minutes, where it stayed at 12.408 with occasional spikes every 30 seconds to 12.385. Everything else didn't move a muscle. Is that good?
