I decided to go pc gaming , and this will be my first build , and I'm wondering If the i3 3220 would be a good cpu for modern games , not specifically Ultra settings , but medium to high , and the cpu would be combined with a Sapphire HD 6870 1GB , and 8GB memory , so should I go for it ?

... You do know the CPU doesn't affect detail settings, right? You can put ultra settings with a Core i3. It's all about your graphics card. Your graphics card is dated, with many outperforming it these days. If you can, go with 4GB of RAM, and get a 1GB 7850 - big difference, higher detail settings can be set with your Core i3. Trust me when I say this, cores doesn't matter when it comes to gaming. It's all about single thread performance. Even if a game is optimized for multiple threads, it's not like you're gonna get horrible performance - you'll get good performance, just not as good as a Core i5 or Core i7.

Yes, the i3-3220 doesn't bottleneck the 6870 at all, it's a good cpu, with two fast cores.

Yes go for it.it is one of the strongest dual core with hyperthreating.Though hyperthreating doesnot have impact on games but dual core + hyperthreating increases slight performance in games like bf3 and far cry.

So should I go with the SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 7850 DUAL-X 1GB GDDR5 , It'll be for a better performance in gaming ?

Yes, MUCH better performance, it'll use much less energy & generate less heat. Just make sure you wanna go with Sapphire - MSI's Power Edition 7850 & XFX's DD 7850 are also very good cards. Your call, however.

Anytime - the Core i3 is a solid processor, I myself will most likely end up with a Haswell Core i3 with an 8850! Enjoy man! :D

If You Go For i3 - 3220 It is best CPU for ever and for gaming pc you go for Radeon HD 7770 1GB this graphic Card is best for gaming performence , no bottleneck on this CPU & GPU Combination
For Example You See This System requirement For Skyrim

Don't buy the i3-3220, there are better CPUs for the money.

FX 6300 from AMD is priced about the same and has better performance in multithreaded apps due to more cores. Most apps and games take advantage of more cores nowadays, so a dual-core would be a bit of limiting I would say.

i3-3220 will not be a bottleneck for your 6870 GPU. It will perform good considering your configuration.
