Anybody recommend a case for a P4G8X that has good cooling and has room to grow?

I have good experience with Lian Li PC-6X.

Any case really so long as it has at least one or two casefan holesback and front (or side) and the holes are big and not obscured. i.e. air can easily get in and out.

Most of the better quality steel cases are like that, and most aluminium ones are very good too.

(In-win's website really sucks badly, but their cases are first rate.)

Hehe, I know its function in most applications but I was still curious. LOL.

Looked at the other "Cases" topic and checked out the <A HREF="http://www.modthebox.com/review149_4.html" target="_new"><b>Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Aluminum Case</b></A>. Looks great. Think it will work with P4G8X? From my limited guessework the answer is yes...

Actually if you insert that particular motherboard into that case it will spontaneously burst into flames and electrocute the cat! :lol: *laughs*

Trust me it will work cauz everyone is nice and follows something called the "ATX specification"

(with the exception of DELL and gateway and a few other oems)

Gateway is NOT DELL, Gateway uses STANDARD POWER CONNECTIONS! They do have some "oddly shaped" power supplies, but they can be replaced with standard ATX if you mod the case a little.

with gateways and the like i was thinking more along the lines of upside down PSU's and 'not quite standard' mobo bolting holes.

I've had no problems mounting standard boards in Gateway PC's. Even their "flex ATX" Essential series is almost big enough to hold an mATX board, so any flex board will fit. The only problem I've had with HP is that they have pressed in mounting points and come with mATX boards, so that you often have to cover the rear middle mounting point with tape to use full ATX boards without that hole.

The ones that give me the most problems are Compaq and Dell. Some IBM's use standard boards...most don't, but their tiny NetVista "flex ATX" case is actually mATX sized (four slots), which means it's even easier to find boards for that model.

LOL, while the oddly shaped power supply problem is a bit of a hassle, you could just as easily blame board manufacturers for NOT using all the standard mounting points when it comes to that part. Over half my retail ATX boards have the holes in the proper locations for the HP case.
