How to prove that L2TP is more secure than PPTP for VPN using NM

Hello,
I have two virtual machines (of Oracle VirtualBox). On one of them, I installed Windows Server 2003 and on the other I installed Windows XP (SP3). I made two VPN connections between them - one is PPTP-based and another is L2TP-based. Now I want to transfer a file from the server side to the client side (Windows XP) - once using the PPTP-based VPN connection, and again using the L2TP-based VPN connection. And by using the network monitor (protocol analyzer), I have to determine which protocol is more secure than the other.
So, how to know which one is more secure using the network monitor?This is my project! Thanks in advance!
