8-pin to dual 8-pin splitter: performance risk?

I have a dual CPU motherboard which requires two EPS12V 8-pin power connectors. I mistakenly bought a power supply that has only one 8-pin connector. I could use an 8-pin to dual 8-pin splitter, but first I'd like to know: Is there any possible detriment to performance associated with these splitters? It seems like the same wires drawing twice the power would be an issue, but I am by no means knowledgeable on the subject.
