Hi,

I use development softwares like Netbeans, Eclipse, Visual Studio, Oracle.
I also use Photoshop, after effects and maya sometimes.
I use Windows 7 as a base OS and then use Fedora and Redhat Desktop on VMware.

I have finalized following configuration.
Proc - Core i7 3770K
MOBO - Asus P8Z77-V Delux
RAM - G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL)
HD - OCZ Agility 4 128 GB SSD (AGT4-25SAT3-128G)

Do i have any other better options in budget of $2500?
Should i go for Intel MOBO for running VMWare of Asus will be a good choice?

Thanks & Regards,
Maitrik Panchal

The Asus motherboard will support VMWare just as well as an Intel offering.

What GPU do you have in mind? I would recommend an Nvidia Quadro series GPU to take full advantage of the professional apps you are using.

I would also make sure you have plenty of HDD storage.

Where do you plan to purchase your components?

I was thinking for Asus NVIDIA GTX 680 2 GB GDDR5. But you can suggest a good GPU in Nvidia Quadro Series for my built.

I already have WD 2 TB Cavier Black, WD 2 TB Green and Seagate 2 TB. So I want to go for SSD this time.

I am from india and I will buy it from flipkart.com or from a local shop.

Thanks COLGeek.
That GPU looks good.

I forgot to mention that RAM in new system will be 4 x 8 GB.

But my main concern is that whether this Rig will be enough for my development needs or not.

My current system has Core i7 920 + DX58SO + 4 x 4 Gb corsair vengeance.
CPU is overclocked to 3.6 GHz.

I just want to confirm that whether I am upgrading to the right components for my software development needs or not.

Please suggest any changes if needed.

It should be more than sufficient to meet your processing needs.

Hi CoolGeek,

Finally I've got following components.
-Core i7 3770K
-Asus p8z77-V Deluxe
-Corsair Neutron GTX Series 120 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive
-WD Cavier Black 2 TB, WD Green 2 TB
-Corsair Vengence 4GB x 4
-CM Hyper 212 EVO

I am going to use Win 7 Ultimate x64.
-I just want to know that for which drive configuration should I go for performance benefits. AHCI/RAID.
-Should I install os directly on Corsair Neutron SSD or should I install it on WD Black and use Intel Smart Response Tech and Rapid Start Tech and utilize SSD for those technologies.

You can see it on this link on page 4-32:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/P8Z77-V_DEL...

Could you please guide me that how should i configure my system to take full advantage of these new technologies and gain maximum performace. I also want to keep the boot time to minimal.

Thanks.... :-)

Install the OS to the SSD (with no HDDs attached to the system). After the OS is installed, connect the HDDs and run all in AHCI mode. Your HDDs don't match, so RAID is not an option.

Good luck!
