I am trying to get a wireless network set up between my laptop & desktop pc,
the aim being that I can use the laptop anywhere in the house to access
files on the desktop. I am at the stage that I have the 2 pcs connecting or
at least they say they are but I am unable to access files on either pc from
the other one. On both pcs in control panel /system /computer name the
workgroup is MSHOME & also I have enabled sharing on the my documents folder
on both pcs. I assume to access files that I have to open up "My Network
Places". When I do there is nothing there so I click on "Add a Network
Place" which opens up a wizard. Then I come to "Choose another network
location" then the next screen allows me to browse to a location that I want
to open. When I click "Browse" I can only browse folders on the pc I'm on and
not the other one. I am totally stuck at this stage and am wondering does
anyone know what the problem could be. The os on both pcs is Windows XP Home
with sp 2 installed. And also the XP firewall is disabled.
