I'm putting a PC together for the first time and before I order the components I would appreciate some feedback on whether or not it all is compatible. The set up is:

Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3
CPU: Intel i7-2700k quad core 3.5GHZ LGA 1155
RAM: 16GB 1066MHZ DDR3
Storage: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 2TB 64MB Sata 6GB/s
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7950 36B GDDR5 DUI/HDMI PCI-Express
Sound Card: Asus PCI 5.1 Xonar DG
System: Windows 7
Optical Drive:HP 24x DVDRW Sata LS
Power supply: 1000W 140mm Fan ATX 20/24 Pin
Monitor: Samsung UN22d5003
Case: NZXT Switch 810 Black full tower Chassis with USB 3.0

Any kind of feedback or thoughts on it would be greatly appreciated.

you didn't give a brand of PSU which is particularly important, and 1000 watts is WAY overkill for that system. I would look at bumping the ram to 1333 which will probably add a dollar or 2 to the price and dropping the PSU to around 750W this will give you headroom to add a second video card if you want later.... Also be aware that your video card is pci-e 3.0 and your mobo/cpu is 2.0 but this won't have any noticeable impact on performance. Also depending on your preferences you could probably drop the sound card... if you're just a normal user and planning on gaming a bit then on board audio is great if you're a bit of an audiophile then keep the soundcard.

I would get a P8Z77-V Pro board instead. The newer chipset for a minor extra price does offer better performance. Also your PSU Wattage is unnecessarily huge, unless you're going to do crossfire you don't need that much. I'd recommend that you can easily come down to 750 Watts instead of 1000W, (Are you planning on overclocking?) And Personally I would go with 650W. Also that HDD seems to have a lot of bad feedback/reviews. Maybe it would be worth it to find something more reliable. The ST32000641AS seems to have better feedback, and you don't want to be risky on your storage device. Also, since it seems you're not lacking for cash to put into the build, why not try out an SSD? Samsung 830 for 128 GB for great performance on games. You can then have the HDD for other Storage. Let me know what you think, or if you have questions.
