Well, here's a great overclocker. I wouldn't bother with a gtx 680. You can get similar performance (sometimes better) out of a gtx 670. This particular version comes with borderlands 2; if you order right now, you can get a 10% discount with promo code.
OK i see what you mean... are there any others that are faster becasue i have 490 for a card (which i would save up a little longer for the 680 if i were to buy it) and i was just wondering if there was a gtx 670 lighting eddition or something?
GTX670 vs GTX680 ----> the GTX680 wins, no doubt about it, and if you have the money i say you go for it but make sure you get one with a really good cooler the hell out of it so it can beat by a lot more the GTX670.
Another card to consider is the 7970 which clock vs clock is the FASTEST GPU in the world, a 7970 Lighting can reach ~1250-1500 on the core, that will make that card INSANELY FAST.
Looks good! Forgot about that model; excellent choice.
Your CPU will handle it no problem. The only game you'll have a noticeable performance decrease in is maybe Skyrim. The FX processors are notorious for not performing as well in single threaded apps (compared to an i5). You should be fine though. Your GPU will pick up the slack.
also what do you guys think about the shown peroformance on the 7970 and the performance with my fx-8120? i feel like its going to be like 20% less fps
buddy, i STRONGLY recommend you to disable cores 1,3,5 and 7. that will increase your performance in CPU dependent games because it will let each core to fully use the L3 cache in each module instead of sharing it.
Just make sure you don't disable cores 1,2,3 and 4 because the result will be the same.
oh ok i see what you mean... so i should disable those 4 cores so the 4 cores available get all the avaiable cache and they work harder? thanks i never thought of that
also should i only disable them when i play games?
and i have to go to bed(highschool) but tommarow i will have $490 and if that card is in stock i will buy... i will keep the thread open until its completely installed, and thank you guys SOOO much this far
the only concern i have left is the adaptive vsync(this is the only thing that makes me still want to buy the 680 or 670) what do you guys think i have a 60hz monitor is regular vsync fine?
