In all honestly I wouldn't recommend any GPU for that PC to run those games. Your CPU will hold you back as well. Your best bet would be either an entirely new PC. If that isn't an option due to money the best I could suggest would be a pre-used PS3 or 360 to play those games - or the base model of either console.

i seen people on youtube playing gta4,battlefield3,mw3 on pentium 4 3.2ghz single cores 1gb of ram and GeForce 8400 GS 512mb of vram and also newegg has 1gb gpus geforce 8400 gs and geforce 210 for under 30$ also i know my cpu low but i was going to upgrade that to an amd atholn x2 5000+ and upgrade the ram to 8gb duel channel i have 4 slots so 2gb in each
i would want my specs to be this after all upgrades

3.oghz quadcore (slot am2 from newegg for 70$ i think i remember)
2gb gpu (bout 69$ from newegg)
8gb ram not over 40$
after that ive have my gaming rig right now i just want to make temporaly upgrades in till im finish so i can be able to play gta 4 and battlefield3 etc at medium settings till the big upgrades

just because you have 4 channels doesnt mean the motherboard supports 8 gb. if it does, it will be expensive because it is probably ddr2 ram.

also the amount of memory is not the only important factor when choosing a graphics card.

it does support 8gb after looking at the website, but if youre only spending 30 bucks on a graphics card, you might as well leave it at 2 gb

It would work. It just wouldn't be used. The system needs to be able to make use of all that ram, and with the system you have, even with an upgraded GPU and CPU you won't need more than a total of 4gb using Vista or Windows 7 64bit.
