Sorry LOL forgot to add my CPU to the list.. - face palm -

Well my budget is around $1000. Why do more people prefer an Intel rig? Is it just personal preference? Like a comparison between Coke and Pepsi?

Thanks, Alex

Hahaha, glad I caught your mistake ;)

Do you know if your work is highly CPU-intensive? And will you OC your 8150? If so, your current choice may be best.

Actually, no, it's not just preference (to some degree). Intel just has better performance throughout all the price points.

Beefy GPU, beefy CPU, great SSD. I'm not sure how GPU-intensive your work is, so here's another Option.

Option 2 (if your work is HIGHLY CPU-oriented and not-so-much GPU)

HD7770 isn't a very 'Beefy' gaming GPU, however, it will be able to play games such as BF3 on Medium-High settings @ 1080p, I'm sure Runescape isn't that graphically demanding so this should suffice :)

It's not really highly CPU intensive I don't think but it's going to use some. I don't think I will be OC not entirely sure :/ Not sure if I mentioned it but I am a noob to this tech field I guess you could say. A friend picked the parts out and I just wanted to verify his knowledge and to make sure Im not missing anything and to ensure that when I order the parts that when it comes in I'll be set and won't have problems such as power supply not being enough or IDK :p

Thanks, Alex

Here's something that will give you a much better all-around performance.

I'm not too sure how much RAM your work will use, so I left 16GB in there just in case. If you don't need 16GB (I highly doubt you will, gaming-wise, 8GB is more than enough, you generally need 16GB+ if you do lots of Video Editing/3D rendering) just take a pair of RAM out and you have a rig that's sub-$1k.

The intel CPUs are just too good to pass up. Here is an example, that 8150 @$190 gets beat by the i3 2120 @$125 by two tiers..

That first build gets my vote. Altho the 7870 is going for as low as $220 so depending on your graphic needs you can save a few bucks here.
