What the best cpu for a CrossHair II

Hello

I have a ASUS CrossHair III motherboard with a 965 amd x4. I was thinking of trying to upgrade my CPU. Is there a faster CPU compatble to this motherboard, or should i go ahead and upgrade my cpu and motherboard. I got a 7970 coming in the mail, and will be buying a ssd soon. I have had this system for a long time, and I like just want to upgrade while I got the money. I am a heavy gamer and I like to surf the web when not gaming.

P.s. I have gone to Asus website, and looked around, and didnt see the answer i was looking for. So I thought to post these questions before I updated.

So its looking like a cpu/motherboard upgrade.

I found one for around 200.00 used. It doesn't look like much of a upgrade according to some of the benchmarks. I guess I was hopeing an am3+ chip would work, but I guess i was dreaming,lol
