Hello!
I just bought a silverstone st50f-es yesterday and it seems like it was damaged..i replaced it with my old psu..the moment i turned the pc on it smelled burnt so then i quickly shut it down...then i tested it again with the older psu the pc turned on and my mobo seems like it's still ok though there where no response with the monitor..i tried using my older pc with the monitor and then there is a response...do you think i needed to change the mobo?before the incident i checked everything first if the cables where plugged right and i am 100% sure that i had no mistakes in the psu being not able to properly installed in the components...and before i replace my psu my pc was still running..

what scares me is that maybe the other parts are also damaged...that will be a big problem with me...

oh and by the way here's my specs...

intel core i3 540
asus p7h55m-lx mobo
2x 4gb 1333mhz kingston
1tb hitachi
gtx 550 ti
1x dvd rw
4 cha fans

and if i need to replace my processor and the board i'm planning to replace it with amd chipset so that my budget for the i5 won't be much affected because i also plan to build an i7 or an i5 just didn't have enough budget for now...and i need to replace the i3 asap because i'm now using a low tech pc...just lucky that it was still running..hahaha!!

thanks in advance guys!! :)

Can you try your GPU in the older machine to see if it still works? If so, and money is tight, I would go for an Asus AM3+ board with the best AMD Phenom II x4 you can afford. The Asus M5 series are relatively cheap and popular. The A6 CPU will not outperform your i3...

i've decided to buy intel because i think that it would be better..but i'm confused as to what i should buy...which of these should i pick?an intel core i3 3220 or an intel core i5 3330/3470..which should be better?i'm assuming that my processor is already damaged with my motherboard and it would be difficult to find a replacement for an 1156 processor these days that's why i'll buy a new board and a new processor...

The i5 if you can afford... your old board does not support core 2 dual. Not much to choose between the two boards, the B75 on price would be best choice. See http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/312359-12-chipset-hidden

I5 if you can afford. Core 2 Duo not supported in your existing board. B75 on price. See

i live in philippines and so my currency would be in peso...i have a budget for about 12,000 to 13,000 pesos converting it to us dollars it would be atleast $295.64 to $320.27...

here's a link of the price of the mobos in a store in our country...
http://pcx.com.ph/components/motherboards-1/asus-p8b75-m-le.html = i tried converting it and it says it's about $85
http://pcx.com.ph/asus-p8h77-m-le-h77-vsl.html = and these costs $101.01

and for the processor..
http://pcx.com.ph/components/processors/intel-core-i3-3220-3-3g-3mb.html = $123.18
http://pcx.com.ph/components/processors/intel-core-i5-3330-3-0g-6mb-22nm.html = $192.16
http://pcx.com.ph/components/processors/intel-core-i5-3470-3-2g-6mb-22nm.html = $200.79

so what do you think should i get?i'm not into online games..i'm more fond of playing games offline...but with max quality...i only have a 1360 x 768 monitor and so i can atleast play high settings with aa...in games such as resident evil 5, resident evil operation raccoon city, spec ops the line, mass effect 3, nba 2k13 etc...

then this would be a better choice http://pcx.com.ph/components/motherboards-1/asus-p8b75-m-le.html
instead of this http://pcx.com.ph/asus-p8h77-m-le-h77-vsl.html?
the 1st choice would be much cheaper compared to the 2nd choice...
is there any big difference between the i5 3330 than the i5 3470?

If the P8B75 suits your budget, why not?

i5 3330
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3330+%40+3.00GHz

i5 3470
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3470+%40+3.20GHz&id=822

3470 looks to be best value for the money and inside your budget. Mobo + 3470 = 11,600 pesos

Should see a difference, i3 540 only has 2 cores
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3+540+%40+3.07GHz&id=738
and scores less than half the 3470.
When you can, get an SSD for your Operating System, games will load much faster. Bookmark this for when you get it, great space saving tips.

I run my rig on a 60 gig SSD, but only have one game and a few apps like photoshop, and with Win 8 still have 35 gig free
