I am building a machine or my girlfriend and was wondering what the best choice was. The price is roughly the same and I use a ECS k7s5a so it can take either type. She's not going to play many games, just run Office applcations and because she would like to do video editing it would be good to have a lot of memory.

512MB DDR RAM would probably be faster because Video Editing is slightly more sensitive to RAM speed than size.

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor

ok, if the apps you are using (including windows, background progs etc) require LESS than 512, then 512 ddr will be fasxter, IF the total required memory is MORE than 512, then 1 gig of anything will be faster as once you run out of physical memory- windows will use the swap file.

The DDR will be better.
If it was 128 of DDR and 256 of SDRAM, then the SDRAM would be better. But 512meg is enough.
