Networking serial reciept printers on windows xp

hi, does anyone know how to solve this... i have 2 rcpt printers, i use a usb to serial converter\ulink from pc to 2 RS-422 and RS-485 smart switches then each RS-422 and RS-485 smart switch is connected to a rcpt printer.. while they do work.. they cant print @ the same time.. its only 1 that works, when ever i disconnect the 1, the other works.... can anyone say what could cause this?
