Hi,

I have just installed a Sapphire HD 6870 1GB DDR5 and i am seeng very little improvement to what i had before which was an 8800GT.

My system specs -

Q6600 quad 2.4ghz - overclocked to 3.0ghz
6GB DDR2 Ram
Windows 7 64bits
Corsair 650W PSU

Is my PC not good enough for the card ? or i have set it up wrong - i just plugged the card in and loaded the drivers from the disc which came with the card.

Any ideas

Cheers

Do a clean install.

However I'm not sure if the CPU (even clocked at 3.0) might become a bottleneck. Depends on the resolution your are running and what games. The lower the resolution the more demanding on CPU will become, if resolution is 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 the demanding will be more on the GPU.

The best thing to do is use a driver sweeper and get rid of all the drivers. Then plug your card in and then put the disk in and when it ask you to do a custom install you click on it.

Then it will ask you to do a clean install then click on it. It should work. If not get back to us and we will do something else. Good luck.

Make sure that your card is running at 16x at pci-e 2.0. you can check this with GPU-Z. That 6870 should be a good upgrade from the 8800gt. Your CPU shouldn't be that much of a bottleneck if at all.

What game are you trying to play? Might be CPU demanding meaning you see much of a performance increase.

Did you connect the two 6-pin PCIe power connectors from your power supply to your graphics card?
