AMD or Intel?

it depends on your budget and use. If you are gaming and your budget allows around a $180 processor, then Intel is your best choice. If you are doing more server/virtualization or media work, AMD is better at most price points. Intel has better single threaded performance (which most games will use between 1-4 threads), AMD has better multi-threaded performance at lower price points (applications like handbrake can use all 8 AMD cores).

Intel is generally better and most preferred by just about everyone. Intel tends to stand above AMD on benchmarks as well. More or less it's the better choice.
