Dvi-I to Vga?

Hello, I'm getting a new gaming system and the 7870 has the DVI-I and my lcd 1600 by 900 monitor and the DVI on it is a DVI-D so I'm wondering if a buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999201
and use it on the VGA to connect it to the GPU would it work?

  1. You can just use a regular DVI-D cable, it will fit in both DVI-I and DVI-D slots.
  2. You can connect the DVI connector on the video card to the DVI connector on the monitor without using any sort of adapter. Just use your DVI cable and you'll be good to go.

    Good luck!
  3. If you are planning to go from DVI-D to VGA you would need a digital to analog video converter. Check KVMSwitchTech as they offer DVI-D to VGA Converters (Part # SCA-DVI-ANA).
