Sus P8Z77-V PRO+ Asus Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II = BSOD

I am having serious issues with a Asus Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II.

After doing a clean install of Windows, and then installing the driver for the 7850, strange artifacts appear on the screen just after Windows 7 says it is loading and then BSOD. Sometimes it just gets stuck on Windows loading. Then I have to go into safe mode and remove the adapter and the drivers to reboot in normal mode.

I have tried all the latest Catalyst drivers, and older ones too.

The strange thing is I am having to use the card as a generic VGA adapter, at resolution 1920x1200, but there are no issues with the car when there is no driver installed.

  1. Check and make sure the mobo has the latest BIOS but if you install the drivers and then get a BSoD, it probably means you have a bad GPU and need to RMA it.
  2. I have the very latest mobo BIOS. Asus make me mad. I will return it and buy a 680 GTX then. :fou:
