GTX550ti vs GTX560ti sli

Hi all, im looking to upgrade my graphics card while keeping my existing EVGA GTX550ti SC and i want to SLI it with either a GTX550ti or GTX560ti. im wanting to know would my current 550 throttle back a 560 in an sli setup? Im going to put these cards on either a gigabyte Z77X-UD3h or Z77X-D3h when i do my upgrades in a month or so.

Thanks in advance

  1. For SLI the two cards have to be the same unlike crossfire. Your only option to SLI would be another 550ti. Both cards will run at the lowest cards clock speed.

you can only sli with gtx550ti. But that card scales quite horribly in sli. So your better off with a single gtx 560 ti and use your gtx 550ti for dedicated physx.
  3. ok thanks for the quick replys, what would the difference for gaming be with using a GTX560 vs a GTX560ti
  4. GTX 560 Ti is around 15% faster than GTX 560.

I thought that with sli the card just had to be similar and come from the same family of cards so any GTX5xxti could sli with any other GTX5xxti

nope they have to be exact identical. Even a gtx560 cannot be slied with a gtx 560ti. Cards from different manufacturers would work tho(e.g asus gtx 560ti with msi gtx 560ti)
