Hello, This is my first post on toms Hardware so forgive me!
My current gpu is a Gtx 550 ti. With this graphics card i am achieving low frames in some games and also in my favorite "world of tanks".
I have researched gpus and found a bargain of a hd6950.

Only Issue i have with this card is its massive power draw on my psu and my poor spu.

I am posting this in hope that you guys might help a amateur like me out!

My Specs:
Mother board: Gigabyte 78lmt-s2p
Cpu: Amd Athion X2 260 3200mhz
1 wireless card
2 sticks of 8gb ddr3 ram
Have the stock coolmaster fan plus another 120mm
1 dvd/cd drive

Problem: psu: Areocool Vp-550watt
Specs
+12v: 20a
+12v2: 20a
(max combined for both rails: 408watt)
More specs: http://www.aerocoolaustralia.com.au/psu/psu_vp-550.htm

Will i be ok with this PSU?

A huge thankyou to all who helps!
much appreciated

Hi - the 550w & 34a on the +12v rails is enough to power a system
with one 6950. The issue you may have is that Aerocool vp550 is a poor
quality PSU: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cases/display/aerocool-psu.html

I suggest you try the 6950 with it and see how it performs, but plan on
upgrading your PSU in the near future. You don't need any more watts/amps,
but you need a quality unit.
