I have two wireless routers on my network (why, you might ask - only because I can). One is a Linksys WRT54G and the other a Motorola modem/router DOCSIS3.0 combo. model SBG6580.

Using the speedtest at http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ , same PC, same adapter (Linksys AE1000) gives me twice the speed on the Linksys as conmpared to the Motorola. Multiple runs, multiple days...

What gives?

Which wireless mode are you using? WEP, WPA, or WPA2

are you using TKIP or AES encryption?

I personally do not like all-in-ones and the SB6580 can run hot. I prefer the SB6120 or SB 6121 modems plus a router.

On the Motorola, I have "N" with WPA2/AES. On the Linksys, I have "G" with WPA2 (personal) / AES. Seems to be the same or very similar?

The AIO seemed like it gave me everything I wanted: "N" service, DOCSIS 3.0, gigabit speeds. Sounds good, looks bad! Maybe I'll force the Motorola to"G" mode and see what happens then.
